As part of Scottish Rugby’s talent identification and player development strategy, we will be running a regional performance programme for under-18 girls and a talent identification programme for under-15 girls during the summer. Please find below information on how to get involved and registration and consent forms for those who wish to apply to trial. Selection will be based on athletic ability, rugby potential, attitude and commitment. The regional performance and talent ID programmes are aimed at recognising and developing talented young players who have the potential to represent Scotland under-20s in the future. This means that girls wishing to be considered will have to meet the standard eligibility criteria of: Girls for whom the criteria do not apply may still be considered if: Under-18 Player Development Programme We will be selecting four under-18 girls’ squads to represent north west (Inverness), north east (Aberdeenshire area), south west (Glasgow) and south east (Edinburgh). Regional trials will be held on 19 June 2011 (10am registration – 2.30pm finish). At each trial a squad of 22-26 players will be selected, and selection will be posted on the website. The selected squads will then take part in the following activity between June and August 2011*: • Regional Training day – 7 July At the end of the programme players of the appropriate age and ability will be recommended to trial for the under-20 Scotland Women's squad (October 2011). Under-15 Talent ID Programme We will be selecting two talent development groups of up to 22 players each from talent ID days, held on 3 July 2011 (10am registration – 2.30pm finish) at two regional centres (venues to be confirmed). The two training groups will take part in skills development training on 7 and 21 August. Identified players will then be given an individual player development plan to help them progress into the under-18 programme in the future. Girls of the appropriate age and ability will then be recommended to trial for the under-18 regional programme the following season.
Paper copies will only be accepted for the consent and medical information forms - available here - both of which must be signed and returned, prior to trials and by 11 June 2011 at the latest, to: NB: Players who do not return the consent form prior to the event will not be permitted to participate without a parent / guardian being present on the trials day to sign the form.
