As part of Scottish Rugby’s talent identification and player development strategy, a regional performance programme for under-18 and under-15 girls  takes place during the summer months (June - Sept). Selection is based on athletic ability, rugby potential, attitude and commitment; girls from different ability levels and different sporting backgrounds are welcome to attend.

Following on from the selection process (June 2011) four regional U18 teams were selected to take part in a summer training programme consisting of training days, matches and an overnight camp at Oban. Within the U15 programme, girls were selected within the regions and took part in skill development days (mirroring the U18 programme) based on individual core skills.

Players interested in participating in the Girls Regional Programme 2012 should attend the National girls events throughout the year where there will be talent identificiation coaches on the ground to identify future players to attend the U18 and U15 Girls Regional Programmes.
(There will be no cost to players to participate in this programme)

At the end of the programme players of the appropriate age and ability will be recommended to trial for the Scotland Women U20's squad, and will attend the Senior Regional talent identification day in 2011/2012.
