The Scottish Women’s Academy is a programme designed to nurture younger talented rugby players from the age of 17yrs to 22yrs old. The squad is selected in January 2010, with the principle focus on individual skill development. The squad will progress over the next 12months to becoming the Scotland Women U20’s squad for the 2010-2011 season and beyond. Players who have progressed through the Scottish Women’s U18 Regional Programme, are advised to trial for the Scottish Women’s Academy in preparation for the Senior Elite women’s squads. The Academy players are committed to attending squad training and S&C sessions, with a selected group participating in the Talented Youth Group. The players within the Scottish Women’s Academy participate in some friendly training matches, with the aim of preparing them for the elite environment in the Senior squads.
