SWRU Cup Final
Murrayfield Wanderers LRFC 15 - Royal High Corstorphine WRFC 14 An early injury to Wanderers' Rimma Petlevannya, a player well known to both sides, unsettled the teams for most of the first half of this closely-fought final a repeat of last years Cup match. The stop-start first forty minutes led to a 5-0 half-time scoreboard in Wanderers favour, though by midway through the second half both sides were back in their stride. With only a few minutes remaining on the clock RHC featuring a stand-out performance from Cara DSilva were leading 14-8 until a last-minute score saw Wanderers lift the silverware in a 15-14 win. SWRU Plate Final Kirkcaldy LRFC 36 Glasgow University WRFC 5 A fast- paced Kirkcaldy underlined their position as a Premier League team against a National League side who nonetheless competed with a massive amount of heart. Glasgow University, obviously enjoying the occasion and having worked hard to compete at this higher level put everything into their performance, underlined by a score in the games final minutes. Top try scorer, however, was Kirkcaldys number 13, Annabel Sergeant, who clocked up a hat-trick. SWRU Bowl Final Morgan Dundee WRFC 5 Melrose LRFC 44 Last years runners-up Melrose took on National Development League side Morgan Dundee, the latter in their first season of existence, in a well-fought encounter. Melrose put in a solid performance and, despite the scoreline, their opponents refused to let heads drop. Playing with plenty of spirit, Morgan charged down the ball for a well deserved try late in the second half. Both sides featured current U18 players, in outstanding form for their respective sides, showing great promise for the future. |
