The appeals of Melrose forwards Kieran Cooney and John Dalziel were rejected tonight following a Scottish Rugby disciplinary hearing.
Both players had appealed the decision given by the discipline panel on 1 April however tonight's appeals panel confirmed prop Cooney had deliberately stamped on the head of Boroughmuir winger Rory Couper and confirmed his six week suspension, now up to and including 30 May. Flanker John Dalziel was found to have been found guilty of a 'reckless use of the boot on the same Boroughmuir player and his suspension was confirmed for three weeks, now up to and including 9 May. The players were cited for dangerous play under law 10.4 (b) by Boroughmuir following the incident which took place during the Scottish Hydro Electric cup 6th round match at the Greenyards on 15 March. |
