The organisers of Melrose 7s and Mull 7s are looking for entries into their womens competition.
See below for details of both are below: Melrose 7s Melrose RFC, founders of seven-a-side rugby, are organising new events to take place around the main Melrose Sevens in April 2008 to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the tournament which is the oldest in the world. As well as a vets event we also have youths and ladies competitions and a tented village with entertainment marquees. The sevens on the Saturday will attract a crowd of 10k plus and goes out live on the BBC for four hours so the entire event will be high profile and busy. * The Ladies 7's Event will take place on Thursday 10th. * We recommend squads of ten but more or less are acceptable. * The main sevens are Saturday 12th so we would anticipate as a minimum teams arriving Wednesday or early Thursday and departing Sunday. Teams from further away may wish a longer stay in Scotland and if this is the case we can try and help with plans if asked. * Teams are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs and booking however we can provide hotel etc details and possibly broker improved packages. The sooner hotels are booked the better as there are limited rooms in the immediate locality. * There is an entry fee, payable in advance, of ?100 per team. We hope if enough sponsorship is raised to refund this fee through food and drink refreshments during the event. You can visit our website www.melrose7s.com and this gives you a flavour of the main Saturday event. If there is interest then let us know ASAP because we will be advertising for teams as well as several of us following up contacts. Over the years woman's teams from as far apart as Australia and USA have traveled to attend what has become known as "World's Most Sociable Sevens". We also always have a fantastic representation from our own Scottish Clubs. Very soon the invitations will be going out.
