Edinburgh Referee Courses
Foundation course This course is for those who wish to referee mini rugby. The Foundation course is 3 hours in total. The cost of the course is ??15, which includes membership of your local Referees??™ Society, Law variation cards and course handouts. Having passed the exam a Foundation Refereeing licence is awarded and you are qualified to referee New Image, Tag and Mini Rugby up to and including P7. The licence is valid for the remainder of the season in which you passed the course and a further 2 full seasons. Level 1 Refereeing Course This course is for those who wish to referee for their school, club or referee society. You do not need to have completed a Foundation Course to do this course. The Level 1 course is approximately 6 hours in total followed by a practical assessment when the candidate is ready. The cost of the course is ??15 which includes membership of your local Referees??™ Society, Law book, Law variation cards and course handouts. Having passed the exam and practical assessment a Level 1 Refereeing licence is awarded and you are qualified to referee up to and including, Regional League 2, schools, youth, Mini Rugby, Tag and New Image. The licence is valid for the remainder of the season in which you passed the course and a further 2 full seasons. Throughout the season the Scottish Rugby Union will be holding a series of courses in Edinburgh and the Lothians and would like to invite any one from your club that would be interested in officiating at any level of the game.
