The National League is contested by 8 teams. Each team plays each other home or away during the first part of the season. The league then splits and all teams participate in the National-NDL programme, where the top 4 play will play each other once more, and the bottom 4 play each other once more. Games are played at 15-a-side under full IRB Laws, with U19 Scrum Variations. Games can be played down to 12-a-side, but the opposition must match player numbers.
